I read a lot about the romance industry in my days' ramblings on the web. Squawk Radio used to be a daily stop, but sadly 'tis no more. The Smart Bitches are my main source of happenings in romance-landia these days, and I pop over to Word Wenches when I'm in the mood for some historical edification. I also often stop by blogs of other writers and aspiring writers.
Reading Liz Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love last night, I was struck by a bit where she talks about here visit to the ashram of her guru. Surprisingly, the guru is almost never there. Liz doesn't have aproblem with this this, and she observes that the guru can actually serve as a distraction because everyone is so caught up with basking in her presence that they lose focus on their own spiritual enlightment.
This made me wonder a bit about how useful all of that wandering among the blogs is for someone like me. As an experiment, I've decided to take a week off from the web (other than e-mail and my own blogs) next week. We'll see how it goes.
