Turkish Baths

I love the idea of a local bathhouse--the kind of place where you can exchange gossip while giving the kids a good scrubdown. I've visited bathhouses in Japan, and I've been to our local banya (a Russian bathhouse) which is hotter than a sauna. I've also visited a historic bathhouse in Istanbul, with its cool rooms, hot rooms and very hot rooms. Alas, all of these rooms contained carpets, rather than steam. I've often felt that I missed out when I visited Constantinople by failing to visit one a local bathhouse. One idea that I've been kicking around for ages is a visit to a Victorian TUrkish bathhouse in London for one of my heroines. In particular, this website has intrigued me for a couple of years:

Too cool, don't you think?
