India

I've recently been reading The Secret Garden and The Borrowers (two classics of British children's lit), and I am reminded what a huge role India played in British social consciousness throughout the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. About the only romance that I can think of which is set in India (or even talks about India) is Loretta Chase's A Sandalwood Princess. One of MJ Putney's Silk series may have been set in Kashmir, but I'll have to think whether there are others I'm missing.
